The “Midi” Era
You know the character that still dresses like they’re in the 90’s? Someone who won’t let go of an era. The “cornroll and mini hoop” era, the “full size horse on your polo shirt” era, or the “G-unit jeans” era?
I have decided on my style era. My name is Novella and I choose “the midi era”. Whenever the clothing trend takes us wherever, I have decided I’m staying here. Best wishes to you all on your fashion adventures.
Anything midi is a go. It has no theme and can be worn anytime, any place, with any shoe. Skirts, dresses, rings, etc. you name it I have it in tan and/or olive. And I don’t know if it has anything to do with me being a bit more sure of who I am. Could it just be the trend that was happening when I felt like I came into my own? Pshh idk, maybe. But this is the style I’ve been waiting on. Through all of the awkward denim flairs when mine were high water because I was tall, slim, and shapeless. (Think of the new trend of flowy tiered flair trousers but in denim and by accident) The bandage bottom club dresses. The velour suits. The throwback jerseys. Some have decided on their era long before this one and are riding it out faithfully. Now my time has come.
There is no doubt in my mind that I will be that person still wearing midi long after the trend has passed. That parent in the PTA meeting who is adjusting her midi rings and making sure it doesn’t clash with her wedding one. Regardless of what body shape I end up with, it’s midi fo’ life.
